I would enjoy hearing from you, though I can’t promise to reply to everyone.  🙂

  • If you think of additional verses that could be added to certain chapters or additional chapters that could be written, please let me know and I’ll add them to my notes for a potential 2nd Edition.

Why and How These Books Were Written

I’ve been in love with the Bible’s wisdom all my life.

These books started as an effort to provide weekly Scripture readings for an online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. My desire was for students to read the relevant aspects of the Bible’s wisdom every week of every business course. When I couldn’t find a resource or combination of resources that was thorough enough for what I had in mind, I started this as an informal writing project. The more practical wisdom I discovered in God’s Word, the larger this writing project became.

After two years of intermittent effort, I had collected 1,200 Bible verses for 60 chapters in rough draft form. Then I committed to providing chapters for student assignments in every week of every MBA course. This led to an intense year of writing two or three chapters a week to keep pace with that weekly assignment schedule. By the end of that year, I had 112 chapters with 4,800 verses grouped into four volumes.

Working intermittently over the next five years, I added 6,000+ new verses and eight new chapters, reorganized the 120 chapters until they fit more naturally into 10 volumes, rewrote the applications and prayers, added chapter introductions, compiled Scripture indexes, revised the book titles and book covers, and developed this website as a resource.

My process for writing each chapter was to find as many Scripture passages as possible on a particular topic, group the related verses into themes, and then consider how those verses and themes could be applied in the workplace. Within each chapter, the verses came first, the themes came second, and the chapter title, introduction, application, and prayer came last. Once this chapter outline was in place, I added verses again and again until finally feeling like enough of God’s Word had been added so these volumes could go final.

My prayer is that these volumes will be a rich resource for everyone who enjoys discovering and applying God’s wisdom in their life and work.

Translation into Other Languages

My hope and desire are that these volumes will be translated into other languages, so that they will be a resource for believers in “every tribe, language, people, and nation” (Revelation 5:9).

I hope to start with major trade languages, but I would love to get these volumes into as many languages as possible.

There are 4 challenges to translating these volumes into other languages:

1) The Old and New Testaments must already be translated into that language, since these books use 38% of the New Testament, 70% of Proverbs, and 14% of the Old Testament.

2) I need to be granted permission to quote extensively from a particular translation and some permissions are hard to obtain.

3) A project manager and translator need to be found for each language.

4) Funding needs to be obtained to compensate those doing the work.

Despite these challenges, I’m excited about pursuing this vision, which is the primary reason I’ve chosen to self-publish instead of using a traditional publisher.
